Look — the reality is insects love plants. They live in them, eat them, and sometimes even breed in them. While some insects are actually beneficial, others can be a real pain to deal with. In this post, we’ll talk about which insects are the good guys, which ones are the not-so-friendly, and how to both treat and prevent pest issues.

Knowing which bugs are helpful and which are pests is key to keeping your plants healthy.
The best way to prevent pest problems indoors is to keep your plant leaves clean.
Gently wiping leaves with a soft terry cloth once or twice a month helps remove dust, larvae, and eggs before they become a bigger issue. Clean leaves also allow plants to photosynthesize more efficiently — win-win!
First — don’t panic. Bugs happen, and it doesn’t mean you did anything wrong.

When cleaning or treating leaves:

There are effective pest treatments you can make using common household items.
One simple solution:
Shake well and spray on both the leaves and soil.
Another option:
If you’d rather not mix your own solutions, our organic leaf shine and pest control spray, Root Juice, is available in our online shop and mobile store.
If you’re unsure what you’re dealing with, feel free to email us a clear photo, and we’ll do our best to help identify the insect and recommend treatment options.
Having pests does not mean you failed as a plant parent. Most infestations can be treated, and there’s usually no need to get rid of your plant.
Plants and insects are both part of nature — learning how to coexist and stay proactive is the best defense. And remember, we’re always here to help. 🌱
